Welcome to Occult Print Shop

Zak Walker

The story so far

It started with an Etsy shop.

A few designs. A growing pile of greeting cards. Orders appearing one at a time.

Then people started arriving with ideas of their own.

Somewhere between the artwork, the printing, the cutting, the packing and the question “could you make this too?”, the little online shop began turning into something much bigger.

Follow the story
01 · The beginning

A little doorway called Etsy.

Occult Print Shop did not appear overnight as a fully formed printing company.

It grew the way a lot of independent creative businesses do: one design, one listing and one customer at a time.

Greeting cards became an early home for the idea. They could be strange, sweet, colourful, sentimental, spooky, adventurous or wonderfully specific.

Sometimes somebody didn't want the birthday card sitting on a supermarket shelf.

They wanted the capybara. The dragon. The monster. The woodland animal. The oddly perfect visual joke that made sense to exactly one person.

That taught us something that still sits underneath everything we do today: print is better when it feels like it belongs to somebody.

02 · Something changed

Then people brought us their own ideas.

Selling our artwork was only part of the story.

Artists, creators, businesses and customers increasingly arrived carrying artwork of their own.

Could this logo become a sticker?

Could those illustrations all fit on one sheet?

Could a photograph become a card?

Could something that only existed on a screen become something physical?

The answer kept being yes.

03 · Building our own place

A marketplace eventually wasn't quite enough.

Custom printing asks for more than a photograph and an Add to Basket button.

Customers need somewhere to upload artwork. They need sizing that makes sense. They need options, previews and a clear route from the file on their phone or computer to the finished product.

So instead of simply adding more listings, we started building the shop around the process of making.

That is how Occult Print Shop began becoming its own place rather than only a shop inside somebody else's marketplace.

01 Bring the idea
02 Upload the artwork
03 Shape the product
04 Turn it into print
04 · Things got bigger

The ideas got bigger. So did the print.

For quite a while, almost everything leaving the shop could fit comfortably into an envelope.

Then the scale began to change.

Business print brought us further into branding and events. Small promotional pieces became displays. Displays became custom flags.

One flag became a pair. A pair became an event entrance. Then came complete four-flag display sets.

It might look like a very long journey from an illustrated Etsy greeting card.

But the idea underneath it is exactly the same: take somebody's artwork and give it a physical presence.

05 · Then the lights came on

Eventually, the print started glowing.

Printed graphics became part of counters, exhibition systems and illuminated SEG displays.

An image could now become something architectural: large-format printed fabric stretched into a display and lit from within.

Quite a long way from the first greeting cards. And yet still the same transformation: an idea on a screen becoming something real.

Through all of that

The shop changed. The important bits didn't.

The catalogue became bigger and the technology became more capable, but we never wanted the experience to become colder because of it.

01

Make print easier to understand.

You shouldn't need to speak fluent print-production jargon just to turn an illustration into something physical. Artwork, sizing and options should make sense before anything reaches production.

02

Leave room for unusual ideas.

Artists, niche businesses, tiny runs and oddly specific projects are not inconvenient exceptions. They're some of the reasons the shop exists in the first place.

03

Care about the thing people actually receive.

Something can look brilliant on a screen and still fail as a physical product. Colour, materials, resolution, cutting, finishing and packaging all matter when the finished piece finally reaches somebody's hands.

04

Stay independent.

Occult Print Shop can become more technically capable without becoming anonymous. The goal is professional printing with the care and flexibility of an independent creative studio.

Your turn

What did you come here to make?

Maybe you already know. Maybe you only have an image, a logo, a sketch or half an idea. Pick a door and see where it goes.

And that brings us here

Welcome to Occult Print Shop.

What began with creative products on Etsy has grown into an independent UK print business for artists, creators, small businesses, events, gift buyers and people whose ideas do not always fit neatly inside a standard template.

We're still making cards. We're still making stickers.

We're just building a much bigger world around them.

So if you arrived here carrying an illustration, a logo, a photograph, a half-finished idea or a wonderfully strange plan, you've probably come to the right place.
